About Tri-City Board of Director
Adela I. Sanchez
Welcome! I, Adela Irma Sanchez, am thrilled to share that I am running for the Tri-City Healthcare Board of Directors, Zone 1 for the second time! I am a highly experienced healthcare professional with nearly 20 years of experience in the field. I am about providing quality care to patients and have a proven track record of success in my career as a registered nurse and community advocate. I am excited to be able to continue to share my knowledge and expertise with citizens of the Tri-City Healthcare District. I plan to continue to give insight and advice on the Tri-City Board to help our hospital leaders make informed decisions about the healthcare needs of our community.

I was born at Tri-City and have been a lifelong North County resident. My husband and I first met at Oceanside High (Go Pirates!). Our son is in the Navy, one of our daughters is a Biotechnology Major and our other daughter is a Dance Major at MiraCosta Community College. I have been a registered nurse in Obstetrics, OR, PACU, Home Health, and School Nursing. As a Registered Nurse in obstetrics, I had the opportunity to work at Tri-City and gain first-hand experience with the hospital's daily operations. I was actively involved in various committees, including the Tri-City Medical Center Unit Policy Committee and Infectious Disease Task Force, as well as serving as a California Nurses Association (CNA) representative for my Labor and Delivery unit.
I strive to make SMART decisions and uplift our community hospital to the best that it can be. With my extensive experience in various San Diego County hospitals, community committees, and my love for community service I am excited to be able to continue to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with the board. My passion for serving the community is why I accepted this opportunity to continue to serve you. If you're looking for someone who is fully committed to Tri-City, our community, and staff then look no further - I'm your person!
Our board is proud of voting in a new CEO that has a relationship with our bedside staff and the community. I am proud to see my campaign goal a reality! CEO, Dr. Gene Ma does not hide Tri-City's shortcomings. He has faced them head on by building a leadership team that has put the goal of Tri-City's vision for excellence into practice. We have no tolerance for bad outcomes or excuses. Now is not a time to loose momentum. It’s time to work harder at fixing our Tri-City Healthcare District problems left to us. I bring the bedside and community voice. Drawing on my extensive experience serving on boards, as well my years of experience working in various hospital settings, I am confident that I can make a valuable contribution to Tri-City Hospital. I am dedicated to community advocacy for the hospital. We are on our way to reach our full potential as a leading healthcare provider for all members of our community.

ADELA'S FIRST TERM GOALS
-
Mandate the CEO get out of his office and know our frontline workers.
-
The CEO should know the jobs of the employees, know employees by name and know where his weak and strong links are.
-
The CEO needs to encourage employee led task forces. Then he needs to meet with those task forces, listen and act on necessary changes. I would meet with the task forces as well and ensure accountability from the management team for making Tri-City successful.

-
Let’s make Tri-City visible in the community. What community outreach programs exist? How can we engage more? Let’s make Tri-City available to our community.

-
There needs to be a strong visible presence in the community by Tri-City management and the board members.

-
The community should know what the CEO looks like and what his goals are. I would plan to have regular community engagement meetings which includes statements by the CEO. That would be his opportunity to speak on how the hospital is doing and what successes and failures he is dealing with.
-
Every patient should complete a survey on their stay and managers should be responsible for using the surveys to make improvements or praise employee success stories. Success stories could be shared in employeeor community newsletters, spotlight photos or even a billboard!
